Whitney is not a big fan of the church tights.  And I don't blame her because I don't like nylons.  Here the tights go on Whitney's head right after church was over.  Silly girl.

January 28th

Saturday is laundry day in our apartment.  It is hard to tell, but Whitney is hiding underneath dad's blue shirt.  She really liked playing with the clothes and throwing them off the bed.  Can you find baby Rachel in the picture?

January 27th

Here Whitney draws on her new aquadoodle that Will's mom sent us.  Whitney was pretty impressed that she could color on the pad with just using water and the marker just slowly evaporates all by itself.  I think it is a great invention for toddlers who like coloring.

January 26th

Will has been debating finding a new job.  We aren't in a rush to find anything new since Will's job is okay, but a little extra time here and there goes into job searching.  If you hear of anything more social work like that Will can apply for, let us know.

January 25th

Whitney wanted to sit on my lap and hold baby Rachel on her lap, so we made a little train on the bed.  Aren't we cute?

January 24th

Here Whitney tells me she is ready to go.  We were off to playgroup at the church and Whitney decided to bring along some extras.  She has her big pink hat, her "purse" which is really Will's old ripped lunch box, and a book.  What else could a girl need?

January 23rd

My sister, Erin, gave me this shirt and I think it is funny.  It says 'My mommy is exhausted'.  There are definitely times when I feel exhausted with a toddler and a newborn (especially this past week where both Whitney and Rachel have colds and aren't sleeping well), but being a mom is worth the tiredness.

January 22

Here Whitney tries on mom's new exercise shoes.  My other tennis shoes were pretty thin-soled and made it painful to be on the treadmill, so I bought some new shoes for only 15 bucks at Target and it has been much better.  My diet and exercise program is going well.  I am down eight pounds in the three weeks I have been doing it.  Hooray!

January 21st

Whitney decided she need to dress her sister bear after she had gotten dressed for the day.  She kept telling me the bear was naked - and we wouldn't want that.  So sister bear got a shirt and pants to wear.  Whitney stayed on the bed by herself in the room for at least twenty minutes.  She doesn't usually like being by herself for that long.  We were pretty amazed.

January 20th

Here is Whitney off to 'work'.  She grabbed a bag full of paper and then told me that she was going to work.  I don't know what Whitney thinks work is but she knows that Will goes to work everyday.  Maybe she thought she would find Will.  Anyway, she walked around our apartment for about ten minutes telling me that she was going to 'work'.

January 19th

Will gets a picture of himself with a box on his head.  He was showing Whitney how much fun it is to wear boxes.  Whitney put the box on her head for a little bit too.

January 18th

We tried a new soup that I found in my diet book called Italian Egg Drop Soup and it was delicious.  There were a lot of vegetables so I thought WHitney wouldn't like it.  I made her some toast instead,  But the toast was left uneaten and Whitney just downed the soup.  I will have to make some extra next time.

January 17th

Here is our little baby angel sleeping like a little angel.  Isn't she adorable?

January 16th

It is a little hard to tell from the picture but Whitney helped make one of our english muffin pizzas.  Hers is the one with lots of cheese.  She kept adding more and more to that one.  Whitney also helped spread the marinara sauce.  She really enjoys being involved in the cooking process.  Supposedly that is helpful in getting your picky kid to eat more, but that doesn't seem to work with Whitney.  Oh well.

January 15

Rachel loves sucking on fingers.  Even Whitney has learned that putting a finger in her mouth is a way to make Rachel stop crying.  So here Whitney offers her own finger, which I thought was very kind of her.  We have to watch carefully though because Whitney tends to accidentally put her finger too far into Rachel's mouth and makes her cough.  And Whitney doesn't look happy in this picture, but she really was.  She likes having Rachel on her lap.

January 14

Here Rachel is in her sunshine outfit - with some wild dream that it might be sunny again one day.  We don't spend much time outside because it has been too cold for our little baby.  Hopefully, she will see the sun one day and not have to keep socks on her hands forever.  Rachel is our little sunshine.  She is a good baby.

January 13

Whitney has become a very independent dresser.  She always wants to choose her own outfit and then put it on herself.  Today she put her jeans on backwards.  And she didn't seem to notice or mind or anything, so they stayed backwards until her next diaper change.  I was pretty amused by this picture.

January 12

I started dieting and exercising a week ago so I could get my body back in shape.  My goal is to lose the baby weight quicker this time.   You eat between 1200 and 1600 calories daily depending on how active you are.  This was one of the meals we had for dinner - barbeque chicken, cantalope, and corn on the cob.  It was tasty.

January 11

This is Tessera - or as Whitney calls it, the bug game.  There are a bunch of similarly shaped bugs that connect in only a few ways.  Will is really good at getting the pieces to connect.  That little shape I made took like twenty minutes; I am really slow at figuring out which piece connects to which.  Oh well.  Whitney still has fun playing with them.

January 10th

Whitney decided today that she didn't like the buttons on her shirt.  I don't know why because she usually leaves her clothes alone, but today the buttons had to be undone.  What a funny girl.

January 9th

One of Whitney's very favorite pasttimes is waking up baby Rachel.  This is a habit we are trying to break, naturally, but Whitney loves going in to our bedroom to wake up the baby.  I think Whitney thinks that if she is awake, everybody else should be awake as well.

January 8th

We took a picture of us girls after church on Sunday.  We spend a lot of time in the bedroom because it is the warmest place in the house and Whitney really likes jumping on our bed.  Aren't we cute?

January 7th

My sister, Erin, is really talented at knitting (and lots of other things too).  She knitted things for everyone for Christmas.  I got this beautiful white scarf.  Will got a cool hat.  Whitney and Rachel got knitted presents too.  Thanks Erin for putting in all that work.  (And just ignore my tired look - that just comes with having a newborn).

January 6th

My mom worked really hard on a Christmas present for Whitney: a little flannel boy and a little flannel girl.  Each one has a lot of different clothes that you can dress them in.  Whitney decided to dress up her boy one day with lots of hats and left shoes.  I guess the rest of the boy didn't need clothes.

January 5th

Whitney has pretty much memorized the Brown Bear book.  She was sitting in her cupboard and reading the book to herself.  Whitney was actually saying the correct words too.  We were pretty amazed at this.  Of course, by the time we tried to get a video of her "reading", she had moved onto a new book.  So we will have to keep trying to catch her with Brown Bear.

January 4th

Whitney is a mini-mom.  When I dress Rachel, she likes to dress her baby doll.  Whitney has been picking out her own clothes for herself and for her baby.  Here Whitney tries to dress her doll up.  She had a really hard time getting the clothes on the baby, but she didn't seem to mind that at all.

January 3rd

Whitney has been fascinated with letters lately.  We played scrabble with Will's mom and Whitney keeps wanting to play with the letters.  She also got some magnetic letters for Christmas that are now on our fridge.  I know she is too young to really understand letters, but she keeps asking for 'Y', so she at least knows one letter in the alphabet.

January 2nd

We look a little squished on the couch, but the point is we all made it into the picture. (Just ignore Whitney's grumpy look; she was tired).  It was so fun having Will's parents here for a couple of days.  We love you guys and we cannot wait to see you again.

January 1st

We stole the idea to to a picture a day from Scott and Emily and Ruth and Dana.  I am not sure I will remember to take a picture everyday.  So we might only have like 300 pictures or something, but we are going to try.  And the name of our blog came from Whitney.  Will asked what we should call our blog and Whitney said Whitney bobby, so that is our new title.

We blessed Rachel on the first (which will be easy to remember).  It was kind of last minute because we wanted to do the blessing while Will's parents were in town.  Here is baby Rachel in her pretty blessing dress.
