June 23, 2012

I have never worked with sweet potatoes before and was surprised when I started cutting one that it was a fair amount harder than a regular potato.  I tried a new recipe for a cinnamon vanilla sweet mashed potatoes for dinner that tasted really good.  I was a little worried because it did look like gross baby food, but I think it was yummy (Whitney refused to try it though and only wanted to eat our fish).

We bought Rachel some little puffs baby cereal and everybody is staking claim.  But I think Rachel knows it is her and is going to keep guard.  I tasted one to make sure it could dissolve completely without using teeth and they are okay (a slight hint of blueberry).

I love this picture.  Rachel has been pretty obsessed with her feet lately.  Either she manages to get a sock off so she can play with her toes, or she starts sucking on her sock and it gets all wet.

A lady in our ward was giving away her gazelle for free.  So we scooped that right up.  We had to rearrange a little bit to make it fit in our living room, but we got it to work.  It is a good, not too tiring, workout that I have done a couple of times since we got it.  And, thankfully, Whitney hasn't tried to play with it much.

If you cannot tell, Whitney and Rachel are dressed opposite of each other. Whitney picked out her green shirt and red pants and then I picked a red shirt and green pants for Rachel.  I know it isn't close to Christmas, but I still think the matching outfits are so cute.

June 18, 2012

Rachel loves being swaddled; it almost always puts her to sleep right away.  So she gets swaddled every night and she is a good little sleeper.  Her swaddle me blanket is much too small for her, so we use the blanket that my mom gave us.  It works like magic at calming this girl right down.

Happy Fathers Day!  We had a great fathers day here in Cheney.  Will got pancakes and eggs for breakfast.  We gave him some cards and some updated pictures for his picture frame at work and a Wii points card.  So I think he was happy with his gifts.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures until 11:30 at night.  Whitney was asleep and Will was half-asleep during this picture (but you can still see his head).  So Rachel gets all the glory for fathers day.  Thanks for being a great dad, Will.

The Guptills had to leave town early, so we spent Saturday with my family.  We walked down to Chiawana park and saw some ducks and did lots of swinging.  So it was fun.

June 15, 2012

We met up with Will's sister, Emily, and her family in the Tri-Cities on Friday.  We went to the Playground of Dreams to hang out.  Matthew and Grant are really getting into the bubble fun.  We had such a great time hanging out with you guys.

Will giving bunny ears to an unsuspecting Whitney.

June 13, 2012

Whitney and I hid in the back room for a little bit so Will could do some things on the computer without interruption.  As you can see from the picture, we had a fun crazy time.  Nothing like a pretend pointy hat on your head.

Whitney eating her first ice cream cone of the summer.  We found these cute little cones that are just the perfect size for her.

Rachel is all ready for the prayer; she just happened to fold her arms and they stayed folded for awhile.

June 10, 2012

Rachel is looking all cute in her Sunday dress.  We just got back from Stake Conference and then we went to the park.  Rachel was pretty jolly all day.

June 9, 2012

Whitney got into the first aid kit that Will uses to teach the boy scouts.  She pretty much dumped everything out onto the floor and kept asking me what everything was.  So now she recognized a band-aid.  I think she just liked pulling everything apart.

June 8,2012

Will is getting his compass course set up for the boy scouts.  We walked with him to Eastern campus and walked around a little bit (until Whitney decided she would much rather be at the park across the street than sitting in her stroller).  Will set up a bunch of flags as markers and he led his scout troop on the required one mile compass trip.  The boys all got really good at using a compass by the end.

We got a wonderful package from my grandma today.  It had some books and some candy and some cute clothes for the girls.  Hopefully, we will be seeing my grandma at the family reunion in August.  So Whitney and Rachel can say 'hi' and 'thank you' to their great-grandma.  Thanks for the fun package.

June 6, 2012

My mom let me have these little stair step things last time we were down in Pasco.  I didn't think I was going to use them too much, but I actually have been using them a ton.  They are a great way to get my exercise done in the morning while the girls are still sleeping.  I walk on them for about a hour while watching TV or reading a book.  It is quite the workout, especially if I use the little hand weights Will bought for me.

Rachel gets her first taste of somthing with a little more flavor - sweet potatoes.  She apparently likes them enough to finish the whole container and keep on smiling.  I think she still likes the rice cereal better though.  We will have to keep adding things to her diet.

June 4, 2012

We are officially starting potty training.  This is our little potty chair.  It either sits in the bathroom or in front of the television so the distractions of The Cosby Show and food and books and whatnot can convince Whitney to stay on the potty.  I could use any tips from anybody who has done potty training because I really don't have a clue what I am doing.

June 3, 2012

Nothing like wearing tights and a hat over your eyes to brighten anyone's day.  Whitney always knows how to make us smile.

June 2, 2012

We had the missionaries over for dinner Saturday night and I wanted a dessert that I could eat as well (without ruining my diet for the day).  So we made parfaits.  I got two kinds of yogurt and a bunch of toppings and let everyone make their own.  The missionaries loved the idea (they are sisters and I think more into eating healthy than elders would have been).  I loved the parfait as well since I didn't feel really guilty about eating too much afterwards.

June 1, 2012

Rachel is letting me know just how much she loves this ball.  We recently discovered this favorite toy of Rachel's.  It is so light and has perfect finger holes for her.  Unfortunately, it is a ball so it rolls away whenever she drops it and we have to go get it.

May 31, 2012

I love this shirt: I can't wear pink everyday.  We do dress Rachel in a lot of pink clothes.  So I guess wearing black now and then won't hurt her.

May 30, 2012

We found a park with swings within walking distance of our home.  This made Whitney really excited because she could be a happy girl if she is just swinging.  Rachel is less thrilled however.  Now we will probably be going to the park a lot.

Our sleeping angel.  She woke up with the imprint of that binky on her cheek, but I don't think she minded.
